GEORGIA
SKIPPER
Georgia’s sailing journey began at the Chester Yacht Club at age 7 where she followed in the footsteps of her older sister and fell in love with the sport. She later transitioned to racing at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, where she developed into a top youth sailor. Her youth career was highlighted by three appearances at the Youth Sailing World Championships in the International 420 class, with her best finish being 6th place at her final event.
After high school, Georgia pursued an engineering degree at Queen’s University, while making the transition to the 49erFX class with her sister. Together, they set their sights on Paris 2024, embarking on a six-year campaign. The road to Paris was filled with highs and lows—from strong international results, including an 8th-place finish at the 2024 World Championships (securing Canada’s Olympic berth), to setbacks like losing the Pan Am Games trials.
During the lead up to Paris, Georgia also became part of the Canadian SailGP Team, where she gained invaluable experience competing at the highest level of professional sailing, refining her tactical skills, and working within a high-performance team environment. The experience was invaluable in her development as a well-rounded sailor.
After winning Canada’s Olympic trials, Georgia and her sister made their Olympic debut in Paris 2024, finishing 11th overall. Following the Games, she competed in the Youth America’s Cup as the port side helm in the AC40 class, finishing 4th in the qualification series with her Canadian teammates. Now, Georgia is determined to build on her experiences and push for the podium in LA 2028.
Passionate about growing the sport, she is committed to inspiring and supporting the next generation of Canadian sailors while continuing to represent her country on the international stage.
